Meet Dr. Sharma-Makwana
Dr. Prashansa Sharma-Makwana discovered her passion for orthodontics early, deciding in high school that she wanted to pursue a career that combined science, problem-solving, and patient care. Inspired by her own positive experience as an orthodontic patient and her love of the sciences, she set her sights on creating confident, healthy smiles for others.
She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago, building a strong academic foundation. Dr. Sharma-Makwana went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Case Western Reserve University before completing her specialty degree in orthodontics at Tufts University.
Dr. Sharma-Makwana is committed to helping every patient feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their orthodontic journey, with treatment options such as braces and Invisalign®. She believes great orthodontic care goes beyond straight teeth—it’s about building trust, fostering open communication, and creating smiles that patients are proud to share. She especially enjoys forming meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients and guiding them toward results that enhance both oral health and self-confidence.

Interests and Hobbies
Outside of the office, Dr. Sharma-Makwana enjoys embracing new experiences and making meaningful memories with her family. She has a passion for traveling and some of her favorite travel memories include trips to Mexico, Spain, New Zealand, Guatemala, India, Greece, South Africa, Thailand, and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Sharma-Makwana also enjoys dancing and has a particular fondness for clever wordplay and puns. Most of all, she cherishes spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and son.
